Treo 700 Mac Support
The new Treo 700W will of course be powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile version 5.0. While this is a boon to PC users, it will not offer Mac support out of the box. If you own a Apple computer, you'll have to seek out third party software to sync the Windows Mobile Treo 700W to your Mac.
Third Party Mac Sync Solutions
Luckily for Mac users, there are two companies which currently offer Macintosh sync solutions for Windows Mobile smart phones. PocketMac offers a broad range of sync solutions already to allow Mac users to sync handheld Windows based devices to the Mac platform. The other company is Mark/Space. Their product, Missing Sync, offers Mac-based sync solutions for the Palm OS, Windows and HipTop. The problem is that either company has yet to release a solution for Windows Mobile 5.0. Both have listed their intention to support Windows Mobile 5.0 on their websites, but there is no timetable for the release. With the impending release of the new Treo 700W, all Mac users can do is hope that a third party solution will be available at launch. If not, their only option is to wait until Palm releases a successor to the Palm Treo 650. It's been rumored that the 700W implies there will be a 700P, but Palm has yet to announce plans for a Palm based Treo 700.
